Coronavirus (COVID-19) Updates

The elders of Maranatha Bible Church are carefully and prayerfully monitoring the situation regarding the COVID-19 Coronavirus, and will make decisions in the interest of the health of our members, attendees, and the general public as soon as possible as new information comes out. Please know that all information regarding any changes in normally scheduled services and events will be communicated as quickly as possible via email, social media, and this webpage.

Updates:

  • May 24 – Again, we request that you RSVP for this week’s worship service on May 31.
  • May 19 – We would like to request that you once again RSVP if you plan to attend this week’s worship service on May 24.
  • May 18 – It is with a sad and heavy heart the decision has been made to cancel Day Camp 2020 for safety. Refunds will be sent automatically. For more details, visit our Day Camp page.
  • May 14 – We will meet this Sunday from 9:30-11:00 am.
    • If you are experiencing any symptoms of sickness or are considered high risk for COVID-19 (if you are elderly or immunocompromised) we ask that you continue viewing our service via livestream.
    • We have assigned everyone who RSVP’d for this Sunday to three rooms within the building in order to observe social distancing precautions. If you did not RSVP, we ask that you watch via livestream this week and plan to attend next week.
    • Unfortunately, you will not be allowed to visit other rooms this Sunday.
    • Room assignments will be sent out via email, and ushers will be available to assist you as well.
    • Those assigned to the auditorium should enter through the main double doors in the front of the building.
    • Those assigned to the upper level classrooms should enter through the office door (single door in the front of the building).
    • Those assigned to the lower level classrooms should enter through the single door on the back of the building which enters the lower level hallway.
    • Families are asked to sit together and keep three seats between each family in a row.
    • Masks are encouraged, especially during singing, although they are not required.
    • We ask you to observe social distancing by staying at least six feet away from others outside of your family at all times, including before and after the service.
    • If you test positive for COVID-19 after attending an in-person service at MBC, please let our elders know.
    • We will be taking several additional safety precautions in order to reduce risk of virus transmission:
      • The building will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized each week.
      • Hand sanitizer will be available at the back of each room.
      • We will not pass the offering plate, but you are welcome to drop your offering in the plate in the back of your room or continue giving by mail or online.
      • Paper copies of bulletins will not be available; instead, a digital copy will be emailed and made available on our digital bulletins page.
      • Refreshments will not be available after the service.
      • Drinking fountains will be turned off.

    • Pastor Bob will also be finishing his equipping hour class from the auditorium from 11:15-12:00. It will also be livestreamed.
  • May 12 – We look forward to meeting again as a church this coming Sunday, May 17! Services will look different for the time being as we will be implementing various health and social distancing precautions. At this time, we would encourage those who are a member of a higher risk group or who are experiencing any symptoms of sickness to continue watching our service via livestream. We ask that you RSVP if you plan to attend in person by emailing office@mbcmi.org by Thursday morning. More details about how our worship services will look for the time being, predicated on RSVP responses, will be sent out on Thursday via email, social media, and this webpage.   • April 29 – While we hope to be able to have Day Camp this year, we must make the decision to hold it or not based on whether it will be safe to do so. We will make that decision on May 18 – stay tuned for more information.
  • April 28 – In accordance with the extension of Michigan’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” executive order, our cancellation of all in-person events will continue through May 15. The women’s training class scheduled for May 9 will be livestreamed.
  • April 9 – In accordance with the extension of Michigan’s “Stay Home, Stay Safe” executive order, our cancellation of all in-person events will continue through April 30.
  • March 29 – All events through April 13 are cancelled.
    • March 29 – The men’s training class scheduled for March 29 will be postponed.
    • April 4 – The women’s training class scheduled for April 4 will be combined with the class scheduled for May 2.
  • March 24 – We will be providing a couple new options to receive livestreamed teaching from MBC:

  • March 18 – All Sunday programs and events at MBC are cancelled through March 31, with the exception that we will continue to livestream our Sunday morning services on March 22 and March 29 at 9:30am. Read the letter from the elders here.
  • March 15 – The livestream of our service on March 22 has been slightly rescheduled to 9:30am.
  • March 13 – In-person services on March 15 and 22 are cancelled, but will be livestreamed at mbcmi.org/live at 10am. Read the letter from the elder team here.
    • Other events, including SURGE, Impact, and the women’s training class, are still scheduled as normal.
