We exist to display God's glory, declare God's truth, delight in God's Son, and disciple God's people

The Miraculous Feeding of the 5000

Matthew 14:13-21

The purpose of miracles was to authenticate Christ as Messiah – God in human flesh – John 5:36
.      All of His miracles were aimed, not just to demonstrate His power, but to meet a specific need

Three truths that demonstrate Christ’s compassion toward those in distress
1.  Compassion Displayed In Heartfelt Concern
.  .      The word ‘compassion’ was only used of Jesus
.      .      Matthew 9:36, 15:13, 20:34
.      .  Could you be characterized as ‘compassionate’, ‘gentle’, ‘patient’ by those around you?
.      .      Philippians 2:3-5
2.  Compassion Displayed In Gracious Testing
.      .   So the disciples – and we – come to the end of our own resources
.      .      This lack of resources should turn us to Him
.      .      .      John 6:5-6, 2 Corinthians 12:7
3.  Compassion Displayed In Generous Provision
.      .      .      Mark 6:39-42
.      .      But they were only interested in physical bread – not Christ
.      .      .      John 6:33-36, 41, 60; Romans 2:4
