1.  The Detailed Preparation – Vs. 1
.        Jesus planned every detail of His coronation
.                 He sent – He ordained – He ordered – He gave instructions of what to say (Mark 11:5-6, Luke 19:31-34)
.        Why a donkey? This is the only time it is recorded that Jesus rode on an animal
.              Designed to demonstrate His kingship – everyone else was walking
.              To provoke a confrontation with the Jewish leadership
.              The time of Messianic concealment is over
2.  The Fulfilled Prophecy – Vs. 5
.        A.  It had to happen this way – Zechariah 9:9-10 prophesied this 500 years earlier
.                  2 aspects – Humility (vs. 9) and honor (vs. 10)
.                        Only verse 9 is quoted – why not verse 10?
.        .         Foal – never before ridden on – Luke 19:30
.      .           Beast of burden – He came to bear our burden of sin
.      .           Meekness not weakness – power under control
.        .         Daniel 9:24-26 – The 70 weeks of Daniel’s prophecy predicts the exact day
.        B.  Fulfillment of verse 10 is in the future – the second coming of Christ
3.  The Enthusiastic Praise – Vs. 6
.        Hosanna – Psalm 118:25-26
.      .      Outside of Jerusalem – celebrating the fulfillment of prophecy
.             Inside of Jerusalem – Who is this?
