We exist to display God's glory, declare God's truth, delight in God's Son, and disciple God's people

Session 3 – Limited Atonement

What does ‘limited’ mean?  The sins that Christ atoned for are actually and fully atoned for and those people are actually and fully saved.
1.  Objections to Limited Atonement
.        It’s not fair!!  Christ died for all – 2 Peter 3:9, 1 John 2:2, John 11:51, 17:9, 12:19
.              “The fact that man has rendered himself spiritually unable because of sin does not for a
.                moment absolve him from his responsibility to obey moral precepts, believe in Jesus Christ
.                and repent of sin.”
2.  Why did Christ come to earth?
.       To accomplish the work of the Father – John 4:34, 6:40, 1 Timothy 1:15
.       To save sinners
3.  Who Did Christ Die For When Accomplished The Father’s Work?
.       His own sheep – John 10:3-4, 16, 26-28
.       The Church – Ephesians 5:25, 1:3-5, Acts 13:48, 18:10
.       His People – Matthew 1:21, Galatians 3:9, 2:29
.               A definite amount of people, a definite amount of wrath, a definite amount of atonement
4.  What Are Man’s Responsibilities in Salvation?
.       We have a responsibility to repent when we hear the gospel – 2 Timothy 2:25, Matthew 4:17
.       We have a responsibility to share the Gospel with everyone – Romans 10:13
5.  Are There Benefits of the Atonement Towards the Unsaved?
.       Common Grace – Psalm 145:9
.       Delayed Judgment – 2 Peter 3:9
.       The universal call of salvation – Matthew 11:29, Luke 17:10
6. What Happens When We Do Not Hold To A Limited Atonement?
.       Christ’s death only made salvation possible, not definite
.       There are people in hell who had their sins forgiven
.       God is an untrustworthy moral monster
.       If Christ died for the sins of the whole world, there is no hell
.       You may not have a biblical understanding of mankind (total depravity)
